Inner tube
A conventional tube holds air inside the tyre. The rider can adjust inflation pressure. The tube remains vulnerable to puncture and pinch damage.
Mousse
A mousse uses a shaped foam insert instead. It removes the conventional tube and its dependence on inflation pressure. The feel depends on the insert, condition and tyre combination.
